Dave Steib vs Jack Morris
Blue Jays 2, Tigers 0
With 2 outs in the top of the 3rd Lloyd Moseby took Jack Morris deep. Two batters later John Mayberry doubled home a run to make it 2-0. Dave Steib was in the process of pitching a 4 hitter when he hit the wall after 8 innings of work. Dale Murray came on board to pitch a perfect 9th inning to notch the save. Jack Morris was splendid in a losing effort, where he actually went the distance and fanned 7. Unfortunately for Detroit's ace his offense never got itself in gear.

Luis Leal vs Dan Petry
Blue Jays 7, Tigers 1
Once again Detroit's offense looked like it still hadn't heard the strike ended. Luis Leal allowed just 1 unearned run in the 3rd over 6 2/3 innings, where he fanned 8 batters. Joey McLaughlin picked up the baton and allowed no runs over the final 2 1/3 innings. Tiger starter Dan Petry was lit up for 7 runs in 4 innings. Aurelio Lopez did a fin job in a mop up role allowing just 2 hits in 5 innings. Damaso Garcia had 4 of Toronto's 5 hits. His keystone combo mate, "Feticini" Alfredo Griffin had 3 hits himself with 2 runs scored. Nine Tiger batters in all struck out on the day.

Mark Bomback vs Milt Wilcox
Tigers 2, Blue Jays 0
Milt Wilcox tossed a masterful 2 hit complete game shutout, because he had to. Detroit's offense was only able to manage 2 runs and both were unearned in the first. After Garcia booted a ball by his opposite number, Lou Whitaker, Steve Kemp doubled him home and Richie Hebner singled in Kemp. No additional scoring would occur in a game that was played in overcast / drizziling conditions in a swift 2 hours and 22 minutes.
